IBPS Photo, Signature, Thumb and Declaration Sizes
IBPS wants four JPEG uploads, each inside a size range: the photograph at 200 × 230 pixels and 20–50 KB, the signature at 140 × 60 and 10–20 KB, the left thumb impression at 240 × 240 and 20–50 KB, and the hand-written declaration at 800 × 400 and 50–100 KB. How to resize IBPS photo and signature files
The IBPS rules are ranges, and both ends matter. A phone photo is several megabytes and far too big, while a neat signature scaled to 140 × 60 pixels is often too small. So the tool works in both directions. It crops or pads to the right shape, resizes to the preferred pixels, and then searches the JPEG quality until the file lands inside the range. If quality alone can't get a small image up to the minimum, it enlarges it in the same shape before adding any filler.
The photograph is cropped from the centre. The signature, thumb impression and declaration are fitted inside white borders instead, so nothing you wrote gets cut off. You also need to capture a live photo with your webcam or phone during the application; that step happens in the IBPS form itself.
The 10th-standard certificate is a PDF on A4, no larger than 500 KB. For that, open compress PDF set to 480 KB, a little under 500 so it passes however the form counts a KB. If your certificate is a photo, turn it into a PDF first with images to PDF.
- 1Choose the upload. Choose Photograph, Signature, Left thumb impression or Hand-written declaration in the Form list. The size range and pixels are filled in.
- 2Drop your photo or scan. A clear phone photo or scan works. Sign, press your thumb and write the declaration on white paper in dark ink first.
- 3Check and download. Click Make it fit. When format, size and dimensions all show ✓, download the JPEG and upload it in the IBPS form.

Frequently asked questions
What is the IBPS photo size in KB?
Between 20 KB and 50 KB, as a JPG or JPEG, preferably 200 × 230 pixels. The notification says the form will not let you move on until the photo and signature meet these rules. Choose Photograph in the Form list above, drop a recent colour photo on a light background, and the tool crops it to 200 × 230 and finds the JPEG quality that lands between 20 and 50 KB.
My signature comes out under 10 KB. What do I do?
A clean signature at 140 × 60 pixels is often smaller than 10 KB even at full quality, because most of it is white paper. IBPS calls the pixel size "preferred" but enforces the 10–20 KB range, so the tool first makes the image larger in the same 7:3 shape. If it is still under 10 KB, it adds filler bytes that do not change the picture (the "add filler bytes" box, ticked for this upload). The checklist shows what was done.
Are the rules the same for IBPS Clerk and RRB?
The sizes here are from the IBPS PO/MT-XV notification, and IBPS has used the same scanning guidelines for its Clerk and RRB recruitments. Each notification carries its own guidelines, so compare them with the one for your exam before you submit.
Why does a 50 KB photo sometimes get rejected?
Forms count a KB as either 1,000 or 1,024 bytes. A file of 50,500 bytes is under 50 × 1,024 but over 50 × 1,000. The tool keeps the photo at or under 50,000 bytes and at or over 20,480 bytes, so it passes either way.
What goes in the hand-written declaration?
Write this in English, in your own handwriting, in black ink on white paper, and not in capital letters: "I, (your name), hereby declare that all the information submitted by me in the application form is correct, true and valid. I will present the supporting documents as and when required." Then photograph it and choose Hand-written declaration in the Form list above.
